Our Vineyard
About
On the south side of the old farm road, just outside the village of Mattituck, there is a gently sloping field hidden in plain sight behind an ancient oak tree. Once a farm, and still home to a barn that was the village blacksmith shop, Old Sound Vineyard is where we live, where we host our friends and family, and where we grow our grapes. Our wines are an expression of this place, the season, and the people who help us farm the grapes and make our wine.
Our wines
We make the kind of wine we love to drink — lively, fresh, and fragrant wild-fermented wines that tell the story of our vineyard that year. This also means wines with no conventional additives except for a small amount of SO2 to keep the wine stable in the bottle. We experimented with our inaugural 2022 vintage to see just how special our Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes could taste in such a good growing year and we are thrilled with the results.
